My Son's Favorite Gift

Woah, Christmas went by so fast this year! This past week seems like a blink of an eye now.  

My three  munchkins had a blast - and they were so excited to see Santa's  footprints at the fireplace Christmas morning! 

My son got some really awesome toys this year - THANK YOU SANTA! - but his favorite is the Dinosaur Excavation Kit by Discovery Kids! He loves dinos and knows them all by name (no joke!)... So of course,  his eyes lit up when he unwrapped this one.... 

This kit includes everything you need (except a drop cloth - this does get messy!)

We busted out this chunk of clay and started digging for the fossils... it didn't take long before we found our first piece! 

Each fossil piece had to be individually dug out... it took about 35 minutes before my son (age 5) got the first piece out. He was so thrilled! 

About 1-1/2 hours later (with a few breaks inbetween), he gave up and we put away the fossils & clay for another day. 

We managed to uncover 4 fossils which are pretty awesome by themselves! 

Personally, I give the Discovery Kids Excavation Kit a HUGE thumbs up! Most definitely worth purchasing! It is entertaining, easy to do for kids but still requires some technique and skill. It does get messy with clay dust and small chunks - but it was super easy to clean up (wet wash cloth was all it took to clean up the floors and such).

Even though we didn't get to finish excavating and actually putting together the fossil pieces, it gives us something to do on another day!
