5 Rituals that can Simplify a Parents Life

Phew. Parenting can be rough at times, huh? These five rituals can make parenting less of a stress!

1. Laughing: Take time out of your day to laugh. Laugh until it hurts. Laugh until you can't breath. It's good for the mind and the soul! Here's some ideas: Watch a funny movie, Go to a comedy show, Play a game of Pie Face, Make a new friend who makes you laugh.

2. Declutter: Give away those clothes in your closet that you haven't worn in years. Ravel through the boxes in the basement collecting dust. Donate to someone in need or have a yard sale and make some money! We all seem to hold onto things for way too long.

3. Music: There is just something about the lyrics of a song that really touches you (well, at least for me it does!). Nothing beats a little music therapy some times. Grab your headphones, turn on Pandora, and jam.

4. Movement: As a parent, I totally understand wanting to sit down and not move a muscle. However, too much sitting isn't good for you (yeah, yeah, we all know that!) so go get out in the sunshine or go to the skating rink with the kids! The possibilities are endless!

5. Routine: Life seems to flow so much smoother when there is a schedule. I'll admit, we don't stick to our family's schedule to a tee but knowing that 'around 5 is dinner' helps a lot (it really does, I swear!). Regardless, a routine simplifies pretty much everything!

When all else fails, sit back and relax in a bubble bath. With a glass of wine. With the door locked.
